2024 Season
After almost 30 years, London City Ballet will once again return to the stage bringing a program of British ballet and contemporary dance to audiences across the world.
With an international company of dancers, the tour will present acclaimed works including the revival of Kenneth MacMillan’s 1972 one-act ballet Ballade unseen in Europe for over fifty years. Internationally acclaimed ballerina, Alina Cojocaru, will appear in the Sadlers Wells performances as a guest artist in its anticipated revival.
Ashley Page’s Larina Waltz will be welcomed back to the stage celebrating the ballet’s thirtieth anniversary and Olivier-award winner Arielle Smith will create a brand new work. Eve, a full company piece by Christopher Marney, which premiered at Sadlers Wells in 2022 with a newly commissioned score by Jennie Muskett MBE, will close the evening.
The inaugural 2024 performances will pay homage to the company’s early beginnings in the form of rarely-seen archival footage. Artistic Director, Christopher Marney has spent over two years rebuilding London City Ballet with historical insights from its early pioneers.
It will shine a bright light on a new legacy, at venues which played an important role in the company’s unique history.
